Welcome to Makki Masjid Tokyo. As the central Markaz for the community, we serve as a place of worship, guidance, and unity. To ensure a harmonious environment for our congregants and our Japanese neighbors, we ask all visitors to adhere to the following protocols.
Transport & Parking (Strict Policy)
To maintain our standing in the local community and respect Japanese traffic laws, please follow these rules:
- No On-Site Car Parking: There is absolutely no parking available for cars at the Masjid.
- Use Coin Parking: If you must drive, you are required to use nearby commercial “Coin Parking” lots.
- No Illegal Parking: Do not park on the street, in front of houses, or block driveways. Illegal parking leads to police complaints and damages the reputation of the Masjid.
- Priority for Commuters: Brothers living nearby are requested to walk to the mosque. Please leave the limited bicycle spaces for those traveling from long distances.
Facility Usage
- Prayer Space: Open 24 hours for daily Salah, with a clearly marked Qibla and clean Wudu facilities.
- Women’s Prayer Area: Please note that we currently have no facilities for women at this location. We recommend that local brothers facilitate prayer spaces at home for their female family members with proper Parda.
- Visiting Jamats: As this is the Tokyo Markaz, all Jamats arriving from other mosques must contact us in advance to coordinate their stay and avoid space conflicts.
Etiquette & Civic Responsibility
We ask you to represent Islam through your “Civic Sense” and character:
- Quiet Zones: Lower your voice immediately upon approaching the Masjid. Do not speak loudly on mobile phones outside, as this leads to complaints from the neighbors.
- Footpath Etiquette: Do not gather or loiter at the entrance before or after prayers. Leave the area promptly so that pedestrians have an uninterrupted footpath.
- Cleanliness: Littering is strictly prohibited. Please keep the Masjid and the surrounding streets clean.
- Modesty: All visitors should dress modestly. Please remove shoes and place them neatly on the racks before entering the prayer hall.
